For instance, did you know that we celebrate Holy Communion/The Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of each month? In our tradition, elders or deacons "serve" us as we sit in our pews. Did you know that we have a Healing Service each month on the last Sunday? This is a very special time for us. Our organist plays softly as those who wish to be annointed with oil file forward and either stand or kneel as our elders and the rest of the congregation pray for them. There is no urging to participate, but most people do, while those who choose to remain in their pews sit quietly and simply observe or pray. Elders come to those who have difficulty standing or walking. Finally, did you know that we have a staffed nursery so parents can relax during the service? You didn't? Well, now you do!
A free family supper was held at Grove Church Minister's home January 22 from 5:00-7:30. Community and church parents and their families were invited to attend this fellowship for discussions of parenting resources and with more than a dozen families attending, it was a great success. We are definitely looking forward to hosting more of these dinners, so please check back often if this interests you. What does a neighborhood church have to offer both couples and single parents who are struggling with the financial and every day decisions of rearing children? We'll be looking to exchange views and discover answers at our next dinner.
Grove Reformed Church is delighted to welcome the students and staff of Hudson County Community College to the neighborhood.Located directly across the street from us on Kennedy Boulevard, between 47th and 49th Streets, the college offers classes and courses that lead to Associate degrees, certifications, entry to four-year colleges and universities, and professional opportunities. You can find them on the web here Look for them also on FaceBook and Twitter.
Pastor Mel has compiled a listing of resources for students, (see our Ministries tab) who face not only academic challenges, but the daily life challenges of goal-setting, dating, and integrating the Christian faith into a constantly changing world.
Welcome!
Grove Reformed Church is much more than brick and mortar. Our church is its people. Gathered from all walks of life, we unite our hearts and gather our talents and resources to deliver the message of hope that can be found only in Jesus Christ. We welcome families and couples, those in relationships and those who live alone. We embrace those from a variety of religious backrounds and those who grew up with no particular religion. Is it possible that this church has something for everyone? Absolutely! It might be found in a Bible study or a youth program. Maybe it's in a senior's fellowship or in a children's choir. Or it may not be in any of the programs available at Grove Church. Instead you may find the very thing you're looking for in the very people who make up this church. We hope that soon you will think of us not as The Church on the corner of 46th and Kennedy, but as
"My Church!"
Thank you for visiting our website!
